Anchor plate. Load distribution for soft and sandy soils

The trellis anchor plate stabilises end posts in vineyard trellis systems, in particular the Strong and Mini Strong lines. It spreads the load across a wider surface of soil, preventing the post from sinking under sustained wire tension.

When you need an anchor plate

In soft, sandy or recently worked ground, the base of an end post exerts high pressure on a small area. Over successive seasons the post gradually sinks, wire height drops and the canopy loses alignment — a failure that develops slowly enough to go unnoticed until it has to be corrected across the whole row. The plate multiplies the bearing surface, keeping the post at its installed height. It is a low-cost component that prevents an expensive problem.

Installation

The plate is bolted directly onto the end post already positioned in the soil, with no need to extract or reposition it. This makes it suitable both for new plantings and for correcting rows already in production.

Working with the anchoring system

The plate distributes vertical load; it does not replace the anchor that resists wire tension. On most sites both are needed: a helical ground anchor or a concrete base anchor for the longitudinal pull, and the plate for vertical settlement.
