The choice of the right vineyard supplies is essential to ensure the efficiency and durability of any trellis system. Sika manufactures a wide range of vineyard trellis supplies, designed to meet the needs of all vineyard types, from traditional setups to the most advanced installations.
Vineyard wire: galvanised and corten
Vineyard wire carries the entire load of the canopy and takes the tension of the whole row. Sika supplies it in two versions.
Galvanised vineyard wire is the standard choice for both the fruiting wire and the foliage wires, selected for its balance of tensile strength and cost. Corten trellis wire is specified where the posts are corten: it keeps the row visually consistent and avoids the contrast between a weathered post and a bright wire.
Tensioning systems
Wire tension is lost after every harvest and across the seasons. Wire tensioners in stainless steel are operated with a key and hold their position without slipping. Spring strainers work differently: they absorb the length changes caused by thermal expansion and sudden loads, reducing stress on the end posts. A chain tensioner is available for applications requiring a wider adjustment range.
Anchors and base plates
An end post needs an anchoring system sized for the row load. Vineyard ground anchors with a concrete base and galvanised shaft are the traditional solution, suitable for most soils. Helical anchors screw into the ground without excavation, cutting installation time where the soil has good cohesion. In softer ground, anchor plates spread the load and stop the post from sinking.

Vine ties, hooks and spacers
Stainless steel vine ties secure the canes to the wire without cutting into the wood as the trunk thickens — a common failure of plastic ties. Wire hooks, also known as wire locks, hold the moveable foliage wires in position during canopy growth, so they can be raised or lowered without dismantling anything. Wire spacers maintain the correct distance between wire levels, improving light exposure and machine access.
Training stakes for young vines
Vineyard stakes in Ø 7 mm and Ø 8 mm guide young vines through their first years until the trunk reaches the fruiting wire. Steel stakes do not rot, do not become brittle and can be recovered and reused in later plantings, unlike wooden or plastic alternatives.
Fully integrated with Sika vineyard trellis posts
All accessories are designed to work with Sika’s post systems, including line posts and end posts in galvanised steel or corten. The slot pattern on the posts is designed to accept wires and hooks without field modifications.
Whether you are implementing a Guyot trellising system, a vertical shoot position (VSP) layout, or a custom solution, Sika provides the components to build a vineyard that lasts.
